Welcome to the Columbia County Makerspace website. We hope you enjoy your visit.
We are creating a Community Resource Center that will focus on advanced computing and manufacturing concepts (Computer Driven CNC Mills and robotic arm tools), as well as Drones & Aerospace. We will explore a focus on the careers that surround each of these specialties, like a Part 107 license for commercial use of a drone, or becoming certified in “Solid Works” tm 3D rendering for CNC applications..
Columbia County Makerspace is proud to be a Tax Exempt, 501(c)(3) entity that you can donate your philanthropy to, whether it is a gift of wood working shop equipment you want to donate, teaching your skills and craftsmanship or a specific grant, we are privileged to work with you on making the gift of education come alive and bear fruit.
The Columbia County / Lake City Maker-Space will empower children and young adults to begin learning about computer programming, prototyping, radio electronics, robotics and aerospace right here at home, at an early age, often using free online resources, open source tutorials and low cost electronics.
To begin we will need to organize a Maker-Space facility.
• A minimum of 500-2500 sf of dedicated secure office space with phone and internet, most Makerspaces grow into 10,000 – 20,000 s.f campuses, often with more than one location.
•50 or more amps of electric capacity, ventilation and fire safety equipment
•Tables, chairs, work benches, office and A/V supplies
•We seek private sponsors & partnerships to provide legal, accounting and funds for Electronic supplies, laptops, and educational materials to get started.
•We seek to engage municipal and community resources and grants to fund S.T.E.M. supplies, costs.
•We need secure laptops, 3D Printers, Ham Radios, electronic kits, Bench Power tools and woodworking shop equipment from donors, sponsors and/or grants.
•We hope to enlist the volunteer services of STEM teachers, tutors, peers & coaches
•We plan to schedule drone, robotic, rocketry, programming and amateur radio club meets
•We will engage Amateur Radio (HAM) operators to learn; radios, repeaters, FCC licensing and drone use.
•We will promote Code Camps, Drone & RC Car races, Robotics competitions, radio meets.
•We will invite/sponsor guest speakers from tech industry and tech education partners like Microsoft, Embry-Riddle University, FGC, UF, FSU etc…
